Covenant Eyes vs Canopy: Blocking, Reports and Price

A short guide to filtering, screen reports, device limits and Canopy's human or AI Ally.

You want fewer routes back to porn. The hard part is choosing which kind of help you will actually keep using.

Covenant Eyes vs Canopy is a choice of emphasis: Covenant Eyes centers on screen accountability; Canopy centers on filtering explicit web content.

Both offer blocking and accountability features. Calling one “the blocker” and the other “the reporting app” leaves out details that could change your choice.

Straight with you: this follows current official documentation, not a hands-on filtering test.
My bias, stated plainly: I built X Reset, a competing accountability tool.

Covenant Eyes vs Canopy: what changes day to day?

Covenant Eyes combines screen reports for a trusted ally with optional website blocking. Its filter uses blocking levels and a custom website list.1

Canopy filters content within supported web browsing. Its help center says it does not save or report your browsing history.2

Its accountability feature instead lets a human partner or AI Ally review requests to change protection settings. Both options are included in every plan.3

So ask what you need help with: discussing screen activity afterward, or having someone review your request to lower a filter.

Compare the bill and the device count

Advertised US-dollar prices checked October 21, 2026:

Canopy's displayed monthly figure represents an annual commitment. Check the full amount due and renewal terms before comparing it with monthly billing.

Both advertise a seven-day free trial. Use it on the devices you intend to keep protected.

Check the app you actually use

Canopy's support documentation excludes content inside non-browser apps.2 Enhanced protection can redirect certain apps, including some social apps, to filtered web versions.6

That changes how you use the service. Ask whether your usual social app will remain available, be blocked, or open through a browser.

On iPhone, Covenant Eyes captures screens in Safari and monitors website connections across the device. It does not capture screenshots inside every app.7

For either product, check ordinary browsing, app access and the partner's view during the trial. Do not assume an installed app means complete coverage.

Where I would start

Try Canopy first if filtering web content is your priority and you want approval before weakening settings, including an option without a human partner.

Try Covenant Eyes first if a trusted person reviewing screen activity is the support you want. Discuss privacy and consent before connecting them.

Our Canopy review and Covenant Eyes review cover each separately. For another approach, read about accountability without a partner.

Pick around the moment where your current plan breaks. That is a better starting point than the longest feature list.
