MDF App Review: Big Feature List, Weak Privacy

A busy Android recovery dashboard can keep you engaged. Ads and broad data sharing make it a poor place for intimate notes.

The MDF app tries to be your streak, journal, community, habit tracker, meditation room and emergency button at once.

That can feel useful. It can also feel like a lot of app around one simple decision.

Verdict: MDF is a decent Android motivation tracker if badges, battles and a visible streak keep you engaged.

It is not the app I would choose for strong blocking or private recovery notes.

Straight with you: I did not run a controlled hands-on test. I checked the current Google Play listing, data disclosure and privacy policy. My bias, stated plainly: I built X Reset, a competitor.

What the MDF app gives you

MDF has a streak counter, relapse log, journal, community, statistics, breathing exercises, lessons, badges, group battles and a panic button.

Google Play shows more than one million downloads and over 14,000 reviews. The listing was last updated in March 2025 when I checked it.

The strongest idea is not the wallpaper reward. It is putting the trigger, the relapse and the replacement habit in one place.

But MDF is mainly a tracker and motivation app. An app lock is not the same thing as a porn filter. If blocking is your first need, use a tool built to test and close access routes.

The privacy trade is bigger than the streak

MDF contains ads and in-app purchases. Google Play says it may share location and device identifiers, and may collect personal information, messages and other data.

The linked policy also names Firebase, Facebook and Pollfish. Pollfish may receive device identifiers and connect them to survey answers.

That does not make MDF malicious. It makes a private journal the wrong place to write details you would hate to see leave your phone.

I also found no live US iPhone listing. Treat MDF as Android-first.

Should you use MDF?

Use it if you want a busy, game-like recovery dashboard and you will keep your journal vague.

Skip it if ads distract you, privacy is central, or you need a blocker that covers browsers and apps.
