How Bulldog Blocker sees inside apps

A domain filter can block a known porn site. It struggles when explicit material appears between ordinary posts on Instagram, X, a browser, or a gallery.

Bulldog uses Android Accessibility Services to capture screen images and classify them on the device. When it detects porn, it triggers the back or home action. Repeated detections lock the offending app for 15 minutes.

The store listing says screen images never leave the device. That matters: uploading a stream of screenshots would create a very different privacy risk.

Still, “AI” is not certainty. A classifier can react late, miss content, or block an innocent image. Current public reviews contain all three experiences. Treat the first week as a test, not proof that every path is closed.

The permissions are part of the product

Accessibility lets Bulldog inspect the active screen and respond. Device Administrator helps resist disabling or removal. Background auto-start must remain active on phones that aggressively stop apps.

Those permissions explain why the filter can act across apps. They also mean this is not a lightweight browser add-on. Read each Android permission screen and test whether battery optimization stops protection after several hours.

The August 27 update added stronger unlock codes, resistance to repeated permission shutoff attempts, Xiaomi/LineageOS setup improvements, and detection for hidden media screens on Samsung devices. Active maintenance is a good sign.

Locks, app controls, and privacy

You can protect settings with a PIN, a timed delay, or a code sent to a friend. Bulldog also supports app blocking, app whitelisting, search protection, and an optional stricter filter for revealing but non-explicit images.

Google Play says the app may collect name, email address, phone number, crash logs, diagnostics, and performance data. It says no data is shared with third parties, data is encrypted in transit, and deletion can be requested.

The separate privacy policy is dated May 2021 and deserves an update. It says CleanBrowsing can receive visited website addresses for classification, while Google Payments handles billing and a messaging provider handles remote unlock communication. That does not contradict local screen scanning, but it makes “your data never leaves the device” too broad as a summary.

Devices and price

The current store listing supports Android phones, tablets, and compatible Chromebooks. There is no iPhone, Windows, or Mac version listed. If another device is part of your path, Bulldog leaves that path open.

The product site advertises a free trial, and Google Play labels the app as containing in-app purchases. Neither public page shows one reliable universal subscription price. Check the exact trial length, price, and renewal terms inside Google Play before accepting.

Is Bulldog Blocker worth it?

Yes, for Android users whose risk appears inside mixed-content apps. Probably not, for someone who wants one account to cover every operating system or cannot tolerate screen-classification errors.
