How to Quit Pornography With X Reset

Use friction for the first click. Use a real consequence for the decision behind it.

You do not quit pornography in the middle of an urge.

You quit earlier, while your head is clear, by building a system the urge cannot quietly erase.

The short version: close the easiest routes, install X Reset on every device you use, and choose a pact price that makes the next click matter.

1. Make one rule you can measure

Start with one clear commitment: no porn for the next 30 days. Write down why. Then name the places where you usually break it: bed, bathroom, work laptop, or a phone after midnight.

Research on self-control finds that changing the situation before temptation arrives works better than waiting to fight the impulse. That means moving the phone, deleting the hidden account, and adding a browser block before tonight.

2. Put X Reset on every device

X Reset uses a small DNS profile on your phone or computer. DNS is the layer that connects a web address to a server, underneath the browser.

When the device visits a known porn site, X Reset records the hit automatically. It does not need a browser extension or a confession. It also does not block the site. You still make the choice.

That difference matters. A blocker creates friction. X Reset makes the rule follow you across the browsers on that device.

3. Choose what breaking the rule costs

You choose a daily pact charge from $1 to $5. A clean day costs $0. If a relapse is detected, the amount you chose is charged once for that day, never once per site or visit.

Money is not treatment, and no trial has proved that a financial pact treats problematic pornography use. Studies of smoking found that risking your own money helped some people who willingly chose that pressure, although few accepted it.

Do not choose an amount that could hurt your food, housing, debt payments, or family. X Reset is voluntary, and you can adjust or end the pact.

4. Give the system a fair chance

Install X Reset on every device you use, not just the device you wish you used. Keep the phone out of bed. Use a blocker as a speed bump. Tell one trusted person what you are doing.

If you relapse, do not turn it into a lost weekend. Write down the time, place, feeling, and route. Close that route before the next night.

If porn is tied to depression, trauma, relationship harm, or repeated loss of control, add a qualified therapist. X Reset is a commitment tool, not medical care.

Your next urge should meet a system, not another promise.
