Migiri Review: Better SOS, Expensive Commitment
Its blocker leads into a useful guided reset. The price, VPN tradeoff, and evidence deserve a closer look.
A Migiri review should start with its real advantage: when it blocks porn, it immediately offers something else to do.
Verdict: Migiri is a thoughtful combination of VPN-based blocking, accountability, daily exercises, and an SOS flow. It suits someone who wants help during the urge—not just a denied page.
The drawback is price. The US App Store currently lists purchases from $39.99 to $159.99, without making the default term obvious on the public page. Check the final checkout screen before starting a trial.
What Migiri actually does
Migiri uses a VPN to filter explicit sites, including private browsing. You can add custom sites and apps, enable anti-tampering controls, and assign a Companion who receives progress notifications.
After a blocked attempt, the app offers an audio exercise based on the R.A.I.N. technique. Its updated SOS flow asks what you need—calm, sleep, a mood lift, distraction, or help deciding—then guides breathing, reminds you why you quit, and serves relevant content.
That is better designed than a dramatic “panic button” with no clear next action. It still depends on you keeping Migiri installed and following the exercise.
The blocker has a technical tradeoff
Migiri says it must be the only VPN on your device. If you need a work or privacy VPN, you may have to choose between them.
No blocker is complete until you test it. Try every browser, private mode, social apps, image search, uninstalling, and disabling the VPN. A February 2025 App Store review reported that delete prevention could be disabled; later release notes say uninstall protection was improved. Test the current build yourself.
Marketing is not clinical proof
Migiri says 91% of users reported meaningful improvement after 30 days. The listing identifies this as 2023 market research. That is a company-reported survey, not an independent randomized trial.
The App Store shows 4.5 from about 3,600 ratings. Useful signal, but still not a measured quit rate.
Privacy and price
Migiri says it does not log visited websites. Apple’s privacy label says other data linked to you may include purchases, payment information, contact details, user content, identifiers, and usage data. Keep journal entries no more detailed than necessary.
The app requires a subscription after its free trial. Optional therapist sessions cost extra. Compare the exact renewal period and total price, then set a reminder before the trial ends.
Is Migiri worth it?
Maybe, if the SOS flow and Companion will change what you do during an urge. No, if you only need a basic blocker or must keep another VPN active.
