Porn Ad Blocker: Stop Pop-Ups, Redirects, and Notifications

A porn ad flashes on a normal page. You close it. Another tab opens.

Later, the same kind of image appears as a notification even when the browser looks closed.

A porn ad blocker starts with diagnosis: block pop-ups and redirects, revoke site notifications, remove suspicious extensions or apps, and use a content filter only if the underlying website is also the problem.

An ad blocker alone cannot repair every route. A pop-up, push notification, redirect, injected ad, and direct porn site are five different things.

Identify which kind of porn ad you see

1. New tab or window: check pop-up and redirect permissions.
2. System notification: revoke that website's notification permission.
3. Ads on every website: inspect extensions, apps, and browser settings for unwanted software.
4. Ads inside one legitimate app: review that app's ad and sensitive-content settings.
5. The destination opens directly: add a website filter; this is no longer only an ad problem.

Block pop-ups and redirects in Chrome

On a computer, open Chrome → Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → Pop-ups and redirects. Set the default to block, then remove unfamiliar sites from the allowed list.

Next open Site settings → Additional content settings → Intrusive ads. Chrome can block ads on sites known for intrusive or misleading advertising.

Chrome already blocks many automatic pop-ups by default. Google says that pop-ups which continue after the setting is correct may come from an allowed notification or unwanted software.

Revoke notifications, not just pop-ups

A website notification can appear outside the page that created it. That is why closing tabs or clearing history does not necessarily stop it.

In Chrome, open the offending site, select the site-information control beside the address, and set Notifications → Block. You can also review every permission under Site settings.

In Firefox, open Settings → Privacy & Security → Permissions → Notifications → Settings. Remove the site's permission and select the option to block new notification requests if you do not need them.

Notifications require permission first. Removing that permission closes the route instead of chasing each alert.

Use Safari's built-in protections

On iPhone or iPad, open Settings → Apps → Safari. Turn on Block Pop-ups and Fraudulent Website Warning.

On Mac, open Safari → Settings → Websites to review Pop-up Windows, then use the Security tab to enable warnings for fraudulent websites.

Apple recommends avoiding interaction with persistent ads, updating the device, and checking for adware or unwanted software when pop-ups continue. If a page traps the screen, leave through the address field or close the tab rather than testing its buttons.

If ads appear everywhere, inspect the device

Persistent new tabs, a changed homepage, a search engine you did not choose, or an extension that returns after removal are not normal advertising behavior.

1. Remove browser extensions you do not recognize or no longer use.
2. Delete recently installed apps that arrived outside the official store or publisher site.
3. Reset the browser settings if the homepage, search engine, or permissions keep changing.
4. Update the operating system and browser before signing into sensitive accounts again.

Do not install a second unknown “cleaner” from the warning itself. Download security software only from its official publisher or your operating system's store.

Know what a porn ad blocker cannot do

Blocking the advertisement does not block the adult site, explicit search result, or suggestive feed behind it. If direct access is part of the loop, use the correct next layer.

Common questions

Close the permission that created the interruption

Do not fight the same image one alert at a time. Remove the pop-up exception, notification permission, extension, or app responsible for delivering it.

Then test a direct adult domain. If it still opens, finish the job with a website block.
